For a few years now we have been advising our clients to treat their OSCR accounts as advertisements for their activities.
“Did you know that if you publish your accounts on your website or Facebook , we can include this link on your Scottish Charity Register entry? You can search the Scottish Charity Register here – https://www.oscr.org.uk/charities/search-scottish-charity-register
By allowing your annual documentation to be viewed by the public, you are being open and honest about your charity’s activities. We can include a link directly to where your accounts are published on your own website. On this webpage, you can include other information to show the positive impact of your work. We feel that this is the best option for charities, as you can publish the information without the redaction that OSCR is required to make due to data protection legislation. This is a great way of contributing to improving trust and confidence in your charity and in the charity sector over all.
Please email the link to email@example.com , put your charity name and SC number in the Subject title of the email, and we will include this for you.
If you do not yet publish your annual information, please consider this as an Agenda item for your next charity meeting.
There is also a great new way of telling the public that you are a registered Scottish charity. In June, we developed a charity personalised OSCR logo which each charity can download and use on their own website and communications. Remember, it is a legal requirement to promote your charitable status to the public. You can find out more here – https://www.oscr.org.uk/news/publicise-your-charitable-status-by-using-the-registration-logo. Please follow the instructions to download and use the logo correctly.”
For tips and advice on how to maximise this opportunity please contact Angus straight away. It doesn’t take much too turn your accounts into a brochure for potential funders.
